# First use

> What happens during onboarding and what to expect in your first week.

## Onboarding

After granting Accessibility permission, Vantic IQ walks through a short setup sequence — no workflow mapping, no tool configuration, no integrations.

**Six questions:**

The optional fifth answer becomes the highest-priority seed for your first conversation and is saved to your profile as an editable text field. It is used only as conversational context (not as a workflow signal) and can be changed or cleared at any time.

The optional sixth field — your average team hourly rate — is used only by the ROI calculation in the Operating Assessment. It is never used for pattern detection. If you leave it blank, the sector median for your vertical is used as a fallback and labelled "sector median estimate" wherever it appears. You can update it at any time from **Preferences → Profile**.

**Team size options:** Just me · 2–10 · 11–50

After the six questions, Vantic presents its four core principles before signal detection begins:

* Workflow signals only — no content, no screenshots, no keystrokes
* Privacy-safe by architecture — structural constraint, not a policy promise
* You control what is detected — exclude any application or time window
* Quiet until it has something worth saying

## Your first session

When onboarding completes, the conversational interface opens. Vantic greets you by name and presents three tappable questions specific to your sector. If you provided a primary friction area in onboarding, Vantic acknowledges it and draws on what it already knows about that pattern in your sector — before any personal data has been collected.

## Your first week

**Days 1–4:** Signal detection is active. No Friction Score yet. The conversational interface surfaces one **Friction Pulse** per day — a single factual signal from your raw data with no pattern claimed.

**Days 3–5 (typical):** The Pattern Engine reaches confidence on the first dimensions. Partial signals may appear before the full Friction Score is ready. Vantic tells you what it knows and what it doesn't.

**Day 5+ (typical):** A complete Friction Score is available and the conversational interface shifts from sector-intelligence mode to pattern-specific mode.

  If your first week is atypical — a quieter period, travel, an unusual project — it may take longer than 5 days. The Pattern Engine needs representative signal, not just dense signal.
