# Account

> Sign-in, profile, Context Hints, pausing signal detection, and closing your account.

## Signing in

Vantic IQ supports two sign-in methods:

* **Email and password** — enter your email address and password on the sign-in screen.
* **Magic link** — enter your email and Vantic sends a sign-in link. No password required.

Your account is tied to your email address. Both methods with the same email address access the same account.

## Your profile

Your profile holds the six fields from onboarding: name, business name, sector, team size, the optional friction area description, and the optional average team hourly rate. Update any of these at any time from **Preferences → Profile**.

Sector and team size affect how Vantic contextualises your Friction Score and how the conversational interface frames sector-specific knowledge. Updating your sector changes the context for new conversations — it does not retroactively affect your Friction Score history.

The hourly rate is used only by the ROI calculation in the Operating Assessment. It is never used for pattern detection. If you leave it blank, the sector median for your vertical is used and labelled "sector median estimate" in the report.

## Context Hints

Context Hints are a plain-text field in **Preferences → Context Hints** where you describe your role, priorities, and recurring pain points. Vantic loads this at the start of every session and uses it to frame insights more precisely.

Context Hints are limited to 500 characters. They can be edited or cleared at any time. Clearing them does not affect your Friction Score or stored patterns.

Context Hints are conversational context only — they never feed the Pattern Engine and do not affect how your Friction Score is calculated. See [Add context hints](/guides/add-context-hints) for guidance on writing them effectively.

## Pausing signal detection

Click the Vantic IQ menu bar icon and select **Pause Context Collection**. The icon dims. No workflow signals are collected while paused.

To resume, click the menu bar icon and select **Resume**. Pausing does not affect existing data, scores, or Context Hints.

## Cancelling your subscription

Contact [s.attwood@vanticlab.com](mailto:s.attwood@vanticlab.com) to cancel. Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period.

What happens to stored data after that point is set out in the [Privacy Policy](https://www.vanticlab.com/privacy) (including any processing outside Australia). If you want data removed on your own timeline, use the [Privacy Hub](/privacy-data/privacy-hub) or request full account deletion — you do not need to wait for an informal retention window described here.

## Closing your account

Account deletion permanently removes all data: workflow signal events, Friction Score patterns, Context Hints, audit records, and your profile. It cannot be reversed.

Go to **Preferences → Account → Delete Account**, or contact [s.attwood@vanticlab.com](mailto:s.attwood@vanticlab.com).
